چکیده

This paper describes a new technique for automatically parameterising the inverse filtered speech waveform by exploiting frequency domain measures and amplitude measures in the time domain. The technique is motivated by the difficulties posed by time domain analysis and by the consequent risks of inconsistencies on the part of both researchers and time based algorithms. The results demonstrate that the system can obtain accurate measurements on synthetic source signals. Analysis was also carried out on short utterances of three male speakers producing tense, modal and breathy voice qualities. Perception tests which involved comparing different resynthesised utterances provide evidence that the new technique is at least as good as our manual method for modal and tense voices. For breathy voice qualities, however, the system needs further development to include aspects like the noise component to provide a more breathy percept.

Depression Detection & Emotion Classification via Data-Driven Glottal Waveforms

This doctoral consortium paper outlines the author’s proposed investigation into the use of the voice-source waveform for affective computing. A data-driven glottal waveform representation, previously examined in the authors earlier doctoral studies for its speaker discriminative abilities, is proposed to be studied for both depression detection and emotion recognition, including severity class...

Discretized Adjoint State Time and Frequency Domain Full Waveform Inversion: A Comparative Study

This study derives the discretized adjoint states full waveform inversion (FWI) in both time and frequency domains based on the Lagrange multiplier method. To achieve this, we applied adjoint state inversion on the discretized wave equation in both time domain and frequency domain. Besides, in this article, we introduce reliability tests to show that the inversion is performing as it should be ...

Parameterisation Methods of the Glottal Flow Estimated by Inverse Filtering

Estimation of the source of voiced speech, the glottal volume velocity waveform, with inverse filtering involves usually a parameterisation stage, where the obtained flow waveforms are expressed in numerical forms. This stage of the voice source analysis, the parameterisation of the glottal flow, is discussed in the present paper. The paper aims to give a review on the different methods develop...

Parabolic spectral parameter - A new method for quantification of the glottal flow

This study presents a new frequency domain parameter, Parabolic Spectral Parameter (PSP), for the quantification of the glottal volume velocity waveform. PSP is based on fitting a parabolic function to the low-frequency part of a pitch-synchronously computed spectrum of the estimated glottal flow. PSP gives a single numerical value that describes how the spectral decay of an obtained glottal fl...

Analysis of motor fan radiated sound and vibration waveform by automatic pattern recognition technique using “Mahalanobis distance”

In recent years, as the weight of IT equipment has been reduced, the demand for motor fans for cooling the interior of electronic equipment is on the rise. Sensory test technique by inspectors is the mainstream for quality inspection of motor fans in the field. This sensory test requires a lot of experience to accurately diagnose differences in subtle sounds (sound pressures) of the fans, and t...
